Co-Innovate are seeking skilled applicants for a design engineer job vacancy at B-spoke Engineering Ltd, based in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, to design and develop a workshop productivity tool for specialist mechanical and electrical engineering fabrication. This design engineering role involves developing and implementing suitable systems and processes for essential engineering functions (including cutting, folding, welding, assembly and finishing) by producing engineered 3D models, working CAD drawings and mechanical load capability assessments using CAD design software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks. The job role will include responsibility for undertaking the formal engineering design and development of a workshop productivity tool to facilitate welding of large structural assembly, whilst also requiring expertise in hydraulic and electrical control systems with levels of control and software automation, in addition to parts assembly, six sigma lean methodologies and value engineering processes for economic viability.

B-Spoke Engineering LTD is a specialist engineering fabrication company located in Ballymena which services a number of key local machinery manufacturers. B-spoke Engineering undertakes both high volume and one-off production and also provides other essential engineering functions including cutting, folding, welding, assembly and finishing (i.e. painting).

To undertake the formal engineering design, develop and manufacture of a market ready, workshop productivity tool that will facilitate the welding of larger workpieces.

To verify the design of this productivity tool through design assessment and structural testing its design is safe and meets all necessary standards, with certifications included.

To introduce a level of control/automation to the productivity tool -level of expertise in hydraulic and electrical control systems, related safety standards, and associated documentation is necessary.

To undertake value engineering to ensure the resulting design is economical in terms of manufacturing.

To develop and implement suitable manufacturing systems & processes necessary to manufacture and support this product for the company.

To produce engineering 3D models, working drawings and mechanical load capability assessment to assist in the manufacture of the product and its individual components.
