In order to support our continued growth and to be able to service more demanding market sectors Northern Hydraulics is recruiting a quality engineer to help develop proactive controls within our manufacturing process and continually update these based on lessons learned.

The Role:

To lead development of the quality function within Northern Hydraulics to ensure cost of quality is driven down whilst ensuring right first-time product is delivered to customers.

Working within a CNC machine shop & fabrication environment the role will introduce quantitative measures to record, investigate and derive trends from all sources of non-conformance reports ensuring this information is used to prevent future occurrence through prioritized process development and training development plans.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to continual improvement of the business by implementing collection of qualitative data on parts produced and, in collaboration with the manufacturing team correlate these to machine parameters measured during the manufacturing process in order to maximize run time between tool changes without compromising quality ensuring maximum utilization of all assets.

They will implement process monitoring using quality control data and develop a model that accurately predicts the onset of out of control production and use this in conjunction with the production manager and engineering team to drive down the cost of poor quality.

The quality engineer will report regularly on quality metrics and trends linking improvement plans and actions results.
