Blow Moulding Technologies (BMT) is a technology spin-out company from Queen’s University, Belfast, founded in September 2011 with our first product — THERMOscan, a device for preform temperature measurement. Our vision is to provide a scientific approach to stretch blow moulding. Through our advanced software and hardware solutions, we aim to reduce energy consumption, optimise setup and increase productivity. We currently supply products and services for use across the stretch blow moulding industry with primary focus on assisting the design, manufacture and analysis of plastic bottles throughout their development and production cycles. We also provide our expert services in Material Characterisation, Preform Characterisation, Material Modelling and Virtual Preform Design. Our products and services appeal across the entire ISBM supply chain — ranging from material producers to converters and brand owners.

We are seeking a project manager to design, build and test a temperature measurement and control device for the packaging industry. The postholder will be responsible for designing hardware, liaising with industrial suppliers, building a prototype and developing experimental tests in collaboration with industrial partners. A major component of the work will be to develop software to perform calculations based on the measurements taken. You should ideally be educated to PhD level and have relevant experience in mathematical modelling of polymers.
